VPS Hosting FAQ
Q. I want to add some features to my web site that my current hosting provider says I can not have with my existing plan. Can a VPS help with this problem?
A. Yes. Having your own VPS allows you to add both web site components and applications that are not normally supported by most shared web hosting providers. You have complete administrative control of the server. Install and uninstall to your heart's content.
Q. Is the Windows 2003 VPS 32 bit or 64 bit edition?
A. 64 bit.
Q. Is Windows 2008 Server VPS Available?
A. We expect this VPS OS choice will be available toward the end of 2009.
Q. How can I firewall my Windows VPS?
A. The internal firewall is enabled by default. The following ports are open
as standard:
- HTTP (TCP port 80)
- HTTPS
- FTP
- SSH
You may edit the firewall rules to suit your needs but we recommend only opening ports that you require to keep your VPS secure.
Q. How are Windows Updates handled?
A. Windows updates are automatically downloaded from a local Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server. VPS servers are set to auto-update (and manually rebooted if required) during standard maintenance windows.
